Sterns Thesis: Vollmer has been forgotten in the literature on eugenics; he does not fit the expected mold, and he devoted scant energy to high-profile issues such as sterilization and immigration restriction. Nonetheless, his story is one path along the variegated terrain of hereditarianism in the twentieth century.
